Young Inventors Create Bold Projects at TSU Maker School
TSU hosted the final preparation sessions at the FabLab Innovation Centre for Youth Creativity as part of the Maker School project presentation of the. TSU Student Valery Serpiva won a grant from the All-Russian Competition for Youth Projects, UTRO-2016 Forum, making the Maker School possible.
This is the first of such events to be held at TSU. Throughout, program participants explored their own ideas and finalized prototypes for working technological devices, among other useful things. As stated by Serpiva: «All FabLab resources are aimed at creating the best possible high quality products usable in various areas of our life." Indeed, during the engineering school, participants worked on several projects. In particular, they started to assemble an Inmuv robot, managing to construct both hands and program them to execute various commands. In addition to that, students designed a quadrocopter-transporter and a quadrocopter-scout, a platform for 3D-scanning, and a gyroscopic mouse during the program’s duration. As part of the program, young inventors attended free workshops on programming digital electronics (Arduino), 3D-modelling and vector graphics, and a training course on neural networks. Additionally, they had a motivational training workshop that included a road map from project idea to implementation. TSU FabLab employees have recently begun preparations for the Interregional Maker School project, which is going to gather children from other FabLabs, YNAO, KhMAO and towns of the Tyumen region for establishing joint projects. It is expected that this project will take place in February 2017.
