Glycos Biotechnologies, Inc. (“GlycosBio”) is an international biochemical company commercializing the production of sustainable chemicals made from diverse, renewable feedstocks. GlycosBio makes specialty building block chemicals such as lactic acid and isoprene, as well as other chemicals important in bio-based polymers.
GlycosBio was founded in 2007 on the leading edge of groundbreaking research in Synthetic Biology and Metabolic Engineering enabling the production of chemicals through the fermentation of crude glycerol – a plentiful, non-food by-product of biodiesel production. GlycosBio has since advanced its platform technology focusing on other sustainable, renewable, non-food or waste-stream feedstocks that can be used to produce a portfolio of high-margin, building block chemicals.
The Company targets raw carbon sources, waste fatty acids, crude glycerol and non-food sugar streams representing low-value, carbon-rich starting materials that are widely available.
